John Brittas Mocks V D Satheesan Over 'Repeated Political U-Turns'

New Delhi: CPI(M) Rajya Sabha floor leader John Brittas has mocked Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan, saying he deserves an award similar to a "Newsmaker Award" for making repeated political U-turns.
In a Facebook post, Brittas stated that Satheesan has been retracting the positions he took while in the Opposition. He claimed that no government in the world had reversed its stand as rapidly as the present one and that these changes had taken place within a short span of time.
Brittas also criticised what he described as the government's spending, saying that when the LDF was in power, the then Opposition leader repeatedly accused it of extravagance. He questioned what the present UDF government was doing now, arguing that even the appointments of government pleaders alone reflected greater expenditure than during the LDF government's tenure.
He further added that the issue extended beyond spending, claiming that the government had appointed individuals sympathetic to the Sangh Parivar despite criticism from its own party workers and coalition partners. Brittas argued that if such appointments had been made during the LDF government's tenure, they would have triggered widespread political controversy, but said that no such questions were being raised now.
