Actor Jayaram Records Statement in Sabarimala Gold Theft Probe

Chennai: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has formally documented a statement from actor Jayaram at his Chennai home, moving to enlist him as a witness in the Sabarimala gold theft inquiry.

Jayaram detailed that his 40 -year history of pilgrimages led to a long-standing connection with Unnikrishnan Potty, who also introduced him to an individual named Govardhanan.

The actor clarified that he hosted the gold plates intended for the temple's sanctum sanctorum after Potty suggested that keeping them for domestic prayers would invite divine favor and prosperity.
This confirmation follows the public emergence of photos showing the items at his residence, which Jayaram acknowledged after the theft investigation became public.
