Thiruvananthapuram: Indian Meteorological Department has said that light rain is likely in Kerala on Monday. The department has also forecast moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning from Monday to Friday in various parts of the state.

According to the weather department, a cyclonic circulation has formed over the southeastern Arabian Sea near the Lakshadweep coast. Another cyclonic circulation is present over the north coastal region of Tamil Nadu, which is contributing to the change in weather conditions.

In addition, a trough of low pressure extends from the southwest Bay of Bengal to the coast of northern Sri Lanka, passing through the Gulf of Mannar up to Kanyakumari. Another trough is also present from the interior regions of Karnataka through southern Karnataka and Tamil Nadu up to the Kanyakumari region.

These atmospheric conditions are expected to bring intermittent rain and thunderstorms across Kerala during the coming days, the weather department said. People have also been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning.
