Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy rainfall in Kerala over the coming days. The low-pressure area over the Kanyakumari sea has shifted to the Lakshadweep–Maldives region and is likely to move west-northwest within the next 24 hours. A cyclonic circulation also persists over the southwest Bay of Bengal.

According to the IMD, Kerala is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms for the next five days. A yellow alert has been issued for Kozhikode and Kannur districts on November 19. On November 21, a yellow alert has been declared for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki districts; for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki on November 22; and for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta on November 23.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts today and tomorrow due to rough weather conditions. The IMD, however, clarified that there are no restrictions for fishing along the Karnataka coast today. Along the southern Kerala coast, strong winds reaching speeds of 35 to 45 kmph—and at times up to 55 kmph—are expected, along with rough sea conditions.
