Kerala to Get Heavy Rain Till Saturday, IMD Warns of Sea Swell

Thiruvananthapuram: The central meteorological department has warned that heavy rain will persist across Kerala until Saturday. According to the latest forecast, isolated places are likely to experience rain accompanied by thunder and lightning until 29 November 2025. As per the 8.30 am. observations, the well- marked low- pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Sri Lankan coast has intensified into a deep depression.
The system is expected to move north–northwest over the next 48 hours through the southwest Bay of Bengal, heading towards the northern Tamil Nadu–Puducherry and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts. As a result, Kerala is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall for the next five days. Between 27 and 29 November, isolated heavy rainfall is also likely.
Due to the swell-sea phenomenon, sea incursion is likely along parts of the Thiruvananthapuram coast (from Kappil to Pozhiyoor), Kollam coast (from Alappad to Edava), and Kozhikode coast (from Chombala to Ramanattukara) until 11.30 p.m. on 28 November 2025, according to the National Centre for Ocean Information Services. Rainfall forecast: 28/11/2025: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki 29/11/2025: Yellow alert for Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts, with a possibility of isolated heavy rain.
