New Delhi: Union Minister of State George Kurien has made an absurd argument regarding the arrest of nuns in Chhattisgarh. He claimed that applying for bail itself was a mistake. The Union Minister stated that if a bail plea is submitted before the completion of legal procedures, it will be rejected. George Kurien also became agitated when journalists asked whether the ones who applied for bail were being treated as guilty. He dismissed other questions as well, including one on whether the BJP was deceiving the Christian community in Kerala by making contradictory claims.

George Kurien asserted that Congress MPs from Chhattisgarh were aware of the true facts of the case, which is why they neither raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha nor protested against it.

BJP leader Anil Antony had claimed that the prosecution would not oppose the bail plea when it came before the court. However, five lawyers appeared on behalf of the prosecution to argue against granting bail. BJP’s double standards are being exposed, as they claim to support Christians in Kerala while taking a hostile stance against Christians in Chhattisgarh.
