Final Session of 15th Kerala Assembly Begins Tuesday; Budget on January 29

Thiruvananthapuram: The final session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly will begin on Tuesday and will continue until March 26, with the House scheduled to meet for 32 days during this period. The session will commence with the Governor’s policy address. A discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address will be held on the 22nd, 27th, and 28th.


The Budget for the 2026–27 financial year will be presented on the 29th. A general discussion on the budget will take place on February 2, 3, and 4.


On the 5th, discussions and voting will be held on the final supplementary demands for grants for the 2025–26 financial year. The Assembly will not meet from the 6th to the 22nd, during which time various subject committees will convene to conduct a detailed examination of the demands for grants.


On the 23rd, the Appropriation Bill related to the final supplementary demands for grants for the 2025–26 financial year will be introduced.


From the 24th until March 19, the Assembly will meet for 13 days to discuss and pass the demands for grants for the 2026–27 financial year. The days January 23, February 27, and March 13 have been set aside for unofficial members’ business. After completing the scheduled business, the Assembly will adjourn on March 26.


So far, across 15 sessions of the 15th Legislative Assembly, the House has met for a total of 182 days and passed 158 bills. Of these, 14 bills are currently under the consideration of the Governor.
