False complaint That a Native of Manjeshwar is Not an Indian citizen; Case to be Filed Against BJP Leader

Kasargod: The District Collector has ordered a case to be filed against a complainant who had submitted a request to remove a voter named Muhammed from Paivalike in Manjeswaram constituency from the electoral roll. The complaint was found to be false, and the Collector has directed legal action against the complainant.
A BJP leader had questioned the Indian nationality of the voter named Muhammed, but this claim was found to be baseless. A hearing was conducted based on the complaint filed under Form 7, which sought the removal of Muhammed from the voters list. The complainant failed to provide any evidence to support the claim, and therefore the complaint was deemed unfounded. Consequently, the Election Registration Officer ordered that Muhammed’s name be retained on the current voters list.
The Collector stated that since the complaint was found to be intentionally false, it constitutes an offense under Section 31. An FIR will be registered against the complainant, and legal action will be taken.
Collector Impashekar emphasised that while it is a legal right to file objections under Form 7, any attempt to mislead the democratic process by providing false information will be met with strict legal action to ensure the accuracy of the voters list.
