Pro-Congress Handles Spread Fake News Card Attributed to CPI(M) Leader M Swaraj

Thiruvananthapuram: Pro-Congress social media handles are circulating a fake card falsely attributed to CPI(M) state secretariat member M Swaraj. The fabricated post claims Swaraj said that free travel for women on KSRTC buses was won through the CPM's struggle, and uses Swaraj's photograph to pass itself off as an official card released by the CPI(M).

The fake card has been shared by an account named Austin Cherupuzha, accompanied by captions asking whether people were aware of this "crucial" development in Keralam politics and whether they agreed with the political stance attributed to Swaraj. The card has also been circulated through fan groups associated with Thrithala MLA V T Balram.

The contents of the circulating card are entirely false. Pro-Congress supporters are attempting to spread misinformation by attributing statements to Swaraj that he never made. Besides M Swaraj, similar fake campaigns have also been carried out targeting other CPI(M) leaders.
