‘Ensuring Academic Standards and Student Safety Is Our Priority’; Minister V. Sivankutty

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala General Education Minister V. Sivankutty has said that the LDF government is focused on strengthening both infrastructure and academic quality in the public education sector, while ensuring the safety of every student in the State.

Addressing a press conference, V. Sivankutty stated that alongside improving school facilities, the government is working to raise learning standards through the “Subject Minimum” scheme. He said accident life insurance coverage has been extended to 4.3 million students across Kerala as part of measures to ensure student safety.

The Minister added that 7,000 robotic labs have been set up in 2,000 high schools, helping transform Kerala’s schools into centres of digital learning. He said work is in the final stage to upgrade 973 schools into Centres of Excellence with financial support through KIIFB.

V. Sivankutty further stated that since 2021, the government has made 30,564 teacher appointments through a transparent process. By implementing the recommendations of the Khader Committee report, the government aims to bring structural reforms to strengthen public education.

He said that while thousands of schools are being shut down in neighbouring states, Kerala continues to move forward by improving quality and expanding access to education.
