Thiruvananthapuram: The DYFI has strongly criticised UDF convener Adoor Prakash, alleging that his stance in the assault case involving a Malayalam film actress, where he reportedly dismissed the survivor and defended the accused, actor Dileep, mirrors the Congress party’s broader anti-women culture.

The organisation highlighted that it is hardly surprising for a UDF leader to adopt such a position, pointing to previous instances where the party shielded individuals like Rahul Mamkoottathil, MLA from Palakkad, who faces allegations of rape and forced abortion. DYFI also recalled the Suryanelli case, in which Congress leader Sudhakaran publicly insulted the survivor, citing it as evidence of a recurring pattern within the party.

By ridiculing the government’s decision to appeal in order to establish conspiracy charges, Adoor Prakash, according to DYFI, has insulted women across Kerala and lent tacit support to the perpetrators. The organisation urged strong public protest against such regressive attitudes and called on society to actively recognise and confront these forces.
