Deadline Extended for UID Registration; 175 Teachers to Get Posts Reinstated: Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: The state Education Minister V. Sivankutty has stated that 175 teachers who had lost their posts will be reinstated following an extension of the deadline for UID registration in government and aided schools in the state. This action is related to the determination of posts for the 2025–26 academic year.

For children whose UID was not available as per the sixth working day count on June 10, 2025, the government had earlier directed that records received by July 14 would also be considered. Based on this, KITE conducted a special verification between February 13 and 17. The special committee reviewed the details of 1,052 children who were excluded on the sixth working day from 213 schools.

During the verification, the UID of 912 children with proper documentation was newly accepted. 140 applications without adequate records were rejected. As a result of this process, approximately 175 teachers who had lost their posts due to a shortage of students in state schools will have their positions reinstated.

Additionally, around ten new posts may be created. Due to the increase in student numbers, 15 schools in the state will be removed from the ‘uneconomic’ category. The updated information has been recorded in KITE’s ‘Sampoornna’ and ‘Samanvaya’ software. Minister Sivankutty also stated that school authorities can approach the respective education offices for further related actions.
