CPI(M) Condemns Vellappally's Remark About Shamseer as Communally Divisive, Unbecoming of SNDP Secretary

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI(M) state secretariat has said that the statement made by Vellappally Natesan about A N Shamseer amounts to fanning communal sentiment. His remark describing party state committee member and former Speaker A N Shamseer as "the voice of the Muslim League" is squarely in this direction, the secretariat said.
The Communist Party, it said, is an organisation that works for social change by uniting people from all sections of society. Viewing party leaders and workers who work towards the same goals through a communal lens is utterly condemnable.
The party also noted the significant role the SNDP has played in shaping Keralam's secular character. The organisation has functioned guided by Sree Narayana's philosophy that the essence of all religions is one, and this stand has made an immense contribution to the formation of Keralam's secular spirit. They added that the statement from Vellappally is one that should never have come from someone who holds the position of secretary of such an organisation.
