CPI(M) Urges Massive Victory for LDF Candidates in Upcoming Assembly Elections, Highlights Governance Record Ahead of Polls

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI(M) state secretariat has called upon voters to ensure a resounding victory for LDF candidates in the Keralam Assembly elections scheduled for April 9.

In a press statement, the party strongly criticized the opposing UDF government that ruled Kerala between 2011 and 2016, accusing it of blindly implementing globalization policies that led to widespread decline across sectors. The statement claimed that during the UDF tenure, essential services deteriorated, including shortages of school textbooks, the rise of communal polarization, closure of several public sector units, and a severe downturn in agriculture. It also added that welfare pensions were neither increased nor disbursed on time, and that the state faced a financial crisis so severe it struggled to pay salaries to its employees.

Highlighting its own governance record, the CPI(M) stated that the LDF government formulated and implemented a progressive manifesto aimed at building a developed, corruption-free, and secular Keralam. According to the statement, these goals were achieved despite challenges such as natural disasters and pandemic. The party asserted that most promises made to the people were fulfilled and that subsequent manifestos continued to guide further development.

The statement further claimed that the LDF government successfully eradicated extreme poverty in Keralam and ensured a peaceful life for its citizens. It emphasized that the administration remained free from corruption allegations at the ministerial level and made significant strides in improving the investment climate while maintaining worker-friendly policies.

Looking ahead, the CPI(M) noted that the LDF has presented a new manifesto aimed at elevating Keralam to the level of middle-income regions while ensuring social justice. Key proposals include programs to eliminate poverty, provide employment opportunities to all graduates, introduce pensions for homemakers, and ensure that at least 50 percent of women have access to employment outside their homes.

Describing its promises as practical and achievable rather than rhetorical, the CPI(M) urged voters to re-elect the LDF government with a large majority to continue its development agenda.
