Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court has issued a notice to Rahul Easwar in connection with a case in which he is accused of insulting the survivor in the rape complaint against Congress MLA Rahul Mankootathil through social media.

The notice was issued on a plea filed by the prosecution, which said Rahul Easwar had violated the conditions of bail granted to him. The court directed him to appear either in person or through his lawyer on the 19th of this month and explain why his bail should not be cancelled. The court said it would pass orders after hearing arguments from both sides.

Rahul Easwar was granted conditional bail by the district court on December 15, sixteen days after his arrest in the case. While granting bail, the court had imposed strict conditions, including a direction not to insult the survivor on social media or attempt to influence witnesses.

Police later informed the court that Rahul Easwar had again tried to insult the survivor through a video message. The prosecution said the act amounted to intimidation and a clear violation of the bail conditions, following which the court issued the notice.
