All Congress MPs and MLAs Have Contributed to CMDRF Is Completely False: Minister P Rajeev

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala IT Minister P Rajeev has challenged Congress leader V D Satheeshan’s claim that all Congress MLAs and MPs contributed to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). Filing a Right to Information (RTI) request revealed that while Satheeshan himself had made a contribution, the assertion that all Congress legislators and MPs had donated is inaccurate.

“V D Satheeshan’s claim is completely false. If he maintains his statement, he should produce concrete data to substantiate it,” Rajeev said, exposing what he called a propaganda attempt to present the Congress in a favourable light.

Official records show that Congress MLAs T J Vinod, Anwar Sadath, and Ramesh Chennithala contributed 50,000 rupees each, along with three other MLAs. League MLAs also donated 50,000 rupees each. However, there is no evidence of any contribution from Congress MPs.

Satheeshan had recently claimed that Congress never instructed its party workers against contributing to the CMDRF and asserted that all Congress MLAs and MPs had made donations. Video clips have surfaced showing former KPCC president K Sudhakaran advising Congress MLAs not to donate, arguing that the party’s organisational resources should manage relief efforts rather than handing money to a left-led government.

Meanwhile, the LDF-led government continues its rehabilitation work for landslide victims in Mundakkai and Chooralmala. Roofing has been completed for the 300th house in the township project in central Kalpetta, with 283 houses fully constructed, 17 houses ready for roofing, and 13 awaiting final painting. Over 1,500 labourers have worked daily from 6 am to 10 pm, and the government aims to hand over the homes to beneficiaries by February, underscoring its commitment to timely disaster relief and housing for victims.
