Thiruvananthapuram: The family of Wayanad DCC Treasurer N M Vijayan, who ended his life after being trapped in a bribery scandal involving Congress leaders, met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and submitted a petition. The meeting came after the Congress continued its cruelty towards Vijayan’s family and his son Jijesh’s family.
Congress local leaders in Bathery are acting in such a way that they are not allowing us to live, and they are spreading unnecessary things on social media using even my photos, said Vijayan’s daughter-in-law Padmaja. “We spoke about everything with the Chief Minister. He assured us of full government support and told us not to worry. He also gave assurance that police action would be taken regarding the cyberattacks,” Padmaja told the media.
Even Priyanka Gandhi came to our house, but it was Congress that broke its promises. There is no hope left in Congress. If action is not taken in this matter by September, on October 2 the family will stage a protest in front of the DCC office. Apart from the Chief Minister, they also met Minister O R Kelu. Padmaja added that they have no intention of meeting any Congress leaders, but are trying to meet CPI M state secretary M V Govindan.
On December 25, 2024, N M Vijayan, who was the DCC treasurer, and his son Jijesh consumed poison and were admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Both died on the 27th. Vijayan’s suicide note held MLA I C Balakrishnan and Wayanad DCC President N D Appachan responsible for the deaths. Balakrishnan and Appachan, the first and second accused in the abetment to suicide case, are currently out on bail.
