Palakkad: In Sreekrishnapuram, Congress candidate K. Ramakrishnan, who also serves as a Congress local committee member, allegedly attempted to influence voters by publicly giving them money.

The incident reportedly took place at the Congress booth office near Mangalankunnu Service Cooperative Bank. Video footage of the money being handed out, along with a phone conversation from the recipient confirming receipt, has sparked widespread criticism of the Congress party. The recipient reportedly acknowledged receiving Rs 1,000.

This comes shortly after another election-related incident in Malappuram’s Thanur on Wednesday night, where LDF candidate P.T. Abdul Manaf was brutally attacked by Muslim League leaders for resisting attempts to bribe voters. Abdul Manaf is an independent candidate from the LDF in the fourth ward of Thanur Panchayat.

The attack was allegedly carried out by a group led by Muslim League constituency president K.N. Muthukoya and League leaders Velliyath Abdussalam and Kunnath Nasar. According to reports, Abdul Manaf had entered homes to check if money was being distributed for votes by the MUslim League. When League leaders became aware that footage of money distribution was being recorded, the League leaders reportedly came outside and assaulted him.
