Kochi: The High Court has stayed the distribution of the Rs 20 crore Christmas–New Year lottery prize money following a complaint filed by Ernakulam Pazhoor native and retired Sub-Inspector K.K. Sajimon, who claimed that he lost his ticket.

According to the complaint, the lottery ticket was sent along with a parcel to Visakhapatnam. After realising that the ticket was missing, Sajimon approached the Piravom Police and later filed a petition before the High Court.

Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas has directed the Lottery Department to submit, in a sealed cover, the details of the person who produced the ticket and claimed the prize. The court also ordered that a clear copy of both sides of the prise-winning ticket be produced.

If the winning ticket has already been submitted, the court has directed that its authenticity and transfer records be thoroughly examined. Further action will be taken after reviewing the response of the Lottery Department and the documents submitted in the case.
