Kochi: Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has expressed concern over repeated operational disruptions affecting SpiceJet services, including international flights. CIAL said the disruptions had also affected services operating from Kochi. The airport operator also disputed SpiceJet’s claim that adverse weather in Kochi was responsible for the disruption, saying the airline’s social media explanation was misleading.

CIAL said Kochi had not experienced weather conditions severe enough to warrant suspension of flight operations and accused SpiceJet of circulating incorrect information. It also pointed out that no other airlines operating from Kochi had cancelled flights because of the weather.

According to CIAL, several SpiceJet international services, including those at Kochi airport, had been widely disrupted, causing inconvenience to passengers. CIAL said SpiceJet had not taken adequate steps to address passenger complaints and that the situation had worsened over the past few days. The airport operator added that it had been making efforts to provide passengers with the necessary assistance and support.

CIAL advised passengers who had booked SpiceJet tickets to check the status and schedule of their flights with the airline before leaving for the airport.

SpiceJet, however, said its communication was intended only to help passengers plan in advance. The airline clarified that it had not announced any flight cancellations and that services from Kochi were operating as usual. SpiceJet expressed regret over the confusion caused by the communication and reiterated that its services were continuing normally.
