Kattakada: A complaint has been filed that a child died due to treatment negligence at a private hospital in Kattakada. The child, six-month-old Aisha Fathima, was the daughter of Aryanad Punalal Chakkipara Shanima Mansil Sidiq-Faisalath's daughter. The Aryanad police have registered an FIR.

The child was initially admitted to Aryanad Government Hospital due to weakness, shortness of breath, and swelling in her eyelids. She later went to Mamal Kattakada Hospital when she developed fever and fatigue. On Friday, she was taken to Srinethra Hospital after experiencing swelling in her eyelids.

On Sunday, when she again experienced fatigue and difficulty in breathing, she was taken back to Mamal Hospital. The doctor examined her and conducted urine and blood tests. After the baby experienced breathing difficulty and was given oxygen, two injections were administered in her hand, which worsened her condition.

Even though the child was later taken to Neyyar Medicity Emergency Department along with the hospital’s two doctors, a nurse, and her relatives, she was declared dead at 12:55 a.m.

The hospital is owned by Kerala Pradesh Pravasi Congress State Committee President L. V. Ajayakumar. The family has made serious allegations against the hospital, stating that after the second injection, the child became weaker, and the authorities at Mamal Hospital did not provide an adequate response. The parents also claimed that it was too late when the child reached Neyyar Medicity and that they were not allowed to enter the ambulance.
