Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has drawn attention for taking two different positions on the state Budget through separate social media platforms.
On his personal Facebook page, Chennithala strongly criticised the state Budget, describing it as a “mere election gimmick with no vision or practicality.” However, on his official MLA page, he shared details of several development projects allocated to his Haripad constituency in the same Budget.
In the MLA page post, he outlined various projects announced for Haripad, including an allocation of 10 crore rupees for the construction of a pulimuttu (breakwater) in Thrikkunnapuzha panchayat. While he rejected the Budget on political grounds in one post, the other highlighted the benefits earmarked for his constituency.
The contrasting posts have sparked discussion on social media. Many users pointed out the inconsistency, with comments such as, “If the Budget is so bad, why list these projects?”, “Isn’t this the same stand taken earlier as well?”, and “Even after getting allocations, criticism continues.”
