College Bus Explodes in Chengannur, Kills Workshop Staff

Chengannur: While repairing a college bus belonging to Chengannur IHRD Engineering College, an explosion occurred, killing a workshop staff member and injuring the driver. Kunjumon (60) from Mammood Kattachira, Changanassery, died in the incident, which took place on Thursday evening around 7 pm.

The explosion happened in the bus parked in the college auditorium. The bus had been out of service for three days, and repairs were underway. The accident occurred while Kunjumon was reinstalling the repaired parts. He sustained severe injuries when scattered machine parts struck his face and was rushed to a private hospital in Kallissery, where he could not be saved. The bus driver, Sajindran, sustained injuries to his leg. Windscreens of nearby parked buses and cars were also shattered in the blast.
