Blue Whale Found Dead Near Azhikode Coast, Kannur

Azhikode, Kannur: A blue whale was found dead near Neerkadavu along the Payyambalam coast in Kannur on Thursday morning. People out for a morning walk discovered the carcass, which was in a partially decomposed state.
Officials from the Forest Department reached the spot and conducted an inspection. Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, a strong stench had spread across the area. The district veterinary surgeon performed the post-mortem examination, while the Azhikode Coastal Police also arrived to assist in the inquiry.
This is not the first such incident in the region — in 2022, another blue whale was found dead on the Azhikode Chal Beach.
