Suicides and Allegations Trigger Debate Over BJP’s Internal Crisis and Moral Decay

Thiruvananthapuram: Sand mafia, investment scams, money laundering, hawala money transfer, robbery, child abuse, shootings...under the guise of social services, anti-social activities by the BJP and RSS are crossing all boundaries. Unable to stand a party where the mafia reigns, many are reportedly escaping taking their own lives. And these are not nobodies. They are the ones who spent a lifetime supporting and promoting the sangh parivar. The latest victim, who had to give up his life, is BJP local leader Anand, who died by suicide on Saturday. It has only been a month since Thirumala Anil - district leader of BJP and a Thiruvananthapuram corporation councillor- had died by suicide. Anandu Aji, who took his own life after revealing the sexual abuse he faced at an RSS Shakha, still remains in our memory. Now Anand and Shalini Anil,-the Thiruvananthapuram North District Secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha, who attempted suicide after reportedly being denied a seat in the local body elections- are the new additions to the list.
The suicide notes left behind by Anil and Anand are very similar in nature. Those letters list the betrayals by the leaders. Anil wrote that BJP leaders had taken loans from the District Farm Tour Cooperative Society -run by BJP- and failed to repay them, which led to his suicide. Anand, wrote in his note that the party had made someone linked to the sand mafia a corporation candidate. He also asked to not show his body to BJP leaders.
Former BJP state leader and spokesperson MS Kumar had also recently issued a suicide warning on his facebook, where he said he was going through the same situation Anil had faced. He further elaborated that 70 percent of those who took loans from the cooperative society he was associated with were BJP members, and stated that majority of them had not repaid their loans. Kumar had sid that he will reveal the names of the defaulters. This eventually forced the BJP leadership to intervene in the situation.
On the very day that BJP leader and former BJP president of Thriprangottur panchayat, in Kannur, K Padmarajan was sentenced to life imprisonment in a POCSO case, Anand died by suicide. This exposes the moral decay of Sangh Parivar, which always speaks about 'Sanatana Dharma'. A teacher, who was supposed to protect his students and put their welfare before everything is the one who ended up sexually abusing the child.
Recently, in Kannur, Mini Nambiar -former BJP district committee member- was arrested for murdering her husband, who also happened to be a BJP local leader, by shooting him. Shalini Anil, the Mahila Morcha leader who attempted suicide has alleged that RSS leaders engaged in widespread character assassination which prompted her to take the extreme step.
The teachings enforced in RSS branches and the intoxication of power at the centre is turning BJP, RSS leaders and workers into anti social elements. A few years ago, BJP's involvement in the Kodakara hawala money heist case had been exposed, revealing that the party leaders were behind the smuggling of money from Karnataka for election expenses and the subsequent robbery of that money.
All these instances show how BJP leaders and workers turned into those who are willing to do anything. This is exactly why BJP has no problem in fielding someone linked to sand mafia to run for corporation in the upcoming local body polls. hose unable to endure this environment are now taking their own lives,
