Thiruvananthapuram: Actress and dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi has sharply criticised UDF convener Adoor Prakash for faulting the government’s decision to file an appeal in the actress assault case. She said it is the government's duty to stand with the survivor, and Adoor Prakash's remarks make it clear that if the UDF comes to power, it will side with the perpetrators rather than the survivors. Bhagyalakshmi expressed her criticism through a Facebook video.

“Sir, this is exactly what the government should be doing. It is the duty of any government to stand with a survivor. That is how a government must function. Through your statement, you are making one thing very clear — if your party comes to power, you will never stand with survivors; you will stand only with the predators. It is said that Dileep, who has temporarily escaped due to various influences and money after the lower court verdict, is your close friend. If perpetrators manage to escape, it is because of the influence of people like you. This statement comes during local body elections — every voter should remember what these people truly think,” Bhagyalakshmi said in her video.

Meanwhile, Bhagyalakshmi has resigned from FEFKA in protest against the organization's move to reinstate actor Dileep. She stated that organizations are treating the lower court verdict as final and declared that she will no longer be part of any union.
