Beypore Makes History: First in South Asia to Receive 'Quality Coast' Certification

Kozhikode: Beypore becomes the first destination in South Asia to receive the Quality Coast Certification. Minister P. A. Muhammad Riyas announced on Facebook that Beypore won double awards at the Global Tourism Exhibition ITB Berlin 2026. Beypore received the Bronze in the Quality Coast Certification, which is awarded to coastal tourist destinations at the forefront of sustainable development activities. He stated that Beypore has achieved the historic feat of becoming the first tourist destination in South Asia to attain this status.

Beypore has become the first destination in South Asia to receive the ‘Quality Coast’ Certification. At the global tourism exhibition ITB Berlin 2026, our Beypore won double awards. Beypore received the Bronze in the Quality Coast Certification, which is awarded to coastal tourist destinations at the forefront of sustainable development activities. This marks a historic achievement, as Beypore is the first tourist destination in South Asia to earn this recognition.

In recognition of its efforts in heritage conservation related to boat-making, Beypore also received the ‘ITB Green Destination Story’ award from the Cultural Heritage Conservation Department. This acknowledges Beypore’s efforts to showcase its tourism potential to the world.

In October 2025, Beypore was selected as one of the top 100 destinations in the world at the Sustainable Tourism Forum held in Dubai. With the addition of this latest recognition, even more tourists are expected to visit Beypore.
