Assembly Election: Last Date for Submission of Nomination Papers Today

Thiruvananthapuram: The deadline for filing nominations for the assembly elections will end on Monday. Since Sunday was a public holiday, the filing of nominations did not take place. The last opportunity is today, Monday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to receive nominations. As more candidates are likely to submit their nominations at the last minute, there may be a huge rush at the offices of the returning officers.

The public can check the affidavits and other documents submitted by the candidates on the notice board of the returning officer and on the official website of the Central Election Commission (affidavit.eci.gov.in). Scrutiny of the nominations will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. At this stage, it will be clarified whether there are any errors or legal obstacles. Time has been given until 3 p.m. on the 26th to withdraw the nominations. With this, the final list of candidates will be clear.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s constituency tour starts today. The campaign kicks off from Pathanamthitta. The Chief Minister will address public meetings at 48 centers across the state in a campaign that will last until April 3.

Prominent leaders like CPI(M) Central Committee members Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat, M.A. Baby, M.V. Govindan, A. Vijayaraghavan, Viju Krishnan, Mariam Dhawle, and Subhashini Ali will participate in LDF campaign meetings in various parts of the state.
