Kochi: Reports indicate that actress Ansiba Hassan, who publicly challenged patriarchal tendencies and internal disputes within the Keralam filmactors' association AMMA, is set to be expelled from the organisation. Ansiba and Lakshmipirya had earlier been issued show-cause notices alleging that their public statements violated the organisation's constitution.

Ansiba has refused to engage with the notice, maintaining a defiant stance and stating she owes no explanation to an executive committee that has refused to acknowledge the legitimate grievances she raised within the organisation. She has characterised the disciplinary action as harassment by those unwilling to address valid concerns, and the move to expel her is expected to be announced just before AMMA's general body meeting on the 29th of this month.

The dispute is simultaneously moving into legal territory. Ansiba is preparing to approach the Ernakulam Magistrate Court with a complaint against actor Tini Tom, seeking registration of an FIR and investigation into allegations that he made remarks demeaning to her dignity as a woman and attempted to portray her as a communalist. She has alleged that police failed in their duty in handling this matter, which forms the basis of her petition.
