Anganwadi Pension: Government Allocates Rs 20 Crore

Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal announced that Rs 20 crore has been allocated for the pensions and other benefits of Anganwadi workers. The government has provided financial assistance to the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Welfare Fund Board.
This year, the government was supposed to provide Rs 5.44 crore in assistance to the board; however, Rs 61.32 crore has already been made available.
The Finance Minister clarified that the government is providing significant support to retired Anganwadi workers to help them avail their benefits, despite financial constraints. Over the past three years, the government has provided Rs 96.21 crore in assistance to the Welfare Fund Board. In this period’s budget, Rs 21 crore had been allocated for this purpose; however, an additional Rs 75 crore was provided.
