Thiruvananthapuram: A newborn baby girl has been received at the “Amma Thottil” (baby cradle) facility in Thiruvananthapuram, becoming the fourth child to be safely received there this year. The infant arrived on Tuesday at 10.20 pm, after a gap of two months.

The baby, estimated to be around 10 days old and weighing 3.45 kg, has been named “Bhoumika,” according to Child welfare Committee General Secretary G L Arun Gopi. She was found dressed in a bright orange, multi-colored outfit.

Data from the Kerala State Child Welfare Committee shows that 45 children were received through Amma Thottil centres in 2025, and four so far this year.

The baby was taken to the Thycaud Children’s Hospital for initial medical examination and has been declared healthy by doctors. Authorities have stated that adoption procedures for Bhoumika will begin soon. Anyone with a legitimate claim is requested to contact the committee before the adoption process moves forward.
