AIDWA demands probe into allegations against Rahul Mamkoottathil

Thiruvananthapuram: The All India Democratic Women’s Association has called for a thorough investigation into the serious allegations against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil. The demand follows an accusation by a young actor, after which Mamkoottathil resigned from his post as State President of the Youth Congress.

If the allegations are proven, the matter warrants grave attention, AIDWA said, noting that in India an insult to women’s dignity is treated as a serious offence. It is particularly concerning when a people’s representative in a designated position is alleged to have misused power to violate women, the statement added.

AIDWA also said the young actor had already informed senior Congress leaders in Kerala about the purported misconduct, and accused them of attempting to cover it up. Such an approach, it warned, challenges the dignity and safety of women across Kerala.

The association concluded by urging a comprehensive probe into the accusations against Rahul Mamkoottathil, and called for accountability through lawful process.
