'Govt Has Failed to Find a Head for the Chalachithra Academy’: Adoor Gopalakrishnan Slams UDF Govt Over Leadership Vacuum

Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan has sharply criticised the UDF government for failing to appoint a chairman for the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy even three months after assuming office. He made the remarks with Cultural Affairs Minister P C Vishnunath sitting on the same dais at a Film Society Association event.

Adoor accused the minister of failing to appoint a chairman for the Academy, and said the UDF government was adopting a thoroughly lax and damaging approach to international events such as the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).

He also openly expressed his displeasure at Minister Vishnunath's late arrival at the event, which left the audience and organisers waiting for over two hours. "Very busy ministers probably won't remember people like us who have only small things to attend to," Adoor said pointedly.
