AA Rahim MP Hits Out at Adoor Prakash; More Leaders Condemn UDF’s Stand on Actress Attack Case Appeal

Thiruvananthapuram: MP AA Rahim has strongly criticised UDF convener Adoor Prakash for mocking the government’s decision to file an appeal in the actress attack case. “The UDF stands with the hunters, not the victims. Adoor Prakash and the UDF are merely echoing Rahul Mamkoottathil's mind and words,” Rahim wrote on Facebook.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and several others had earlier come out against Adoor Prakash. The Chief Minister said Adoor Prakash should apologise, calling his remarks “strange and unacceptable.” The UDF convener's statement reflects the political stance of the UDF, but society does not share such a stance, the CM added. The government and the public have always stood with the survivor at every stage, he said.
CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam also criticised the UDF, saying its actions amounted to insulting women voters. “Anyone who has a mother or daughters will never tolerate this. A UDF led by Rahul Mamkoottathil will not hesitate to support the actor (Dileep). If the UDF stands on that side, the people will punish them. After hearing the UDF convenor’s statement, not a single voter inclined towards them will vote for the UDF,” he said.
Actress and dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi too criticised Adoor Prakash, stating that he had made it clear UDF would not stand with survivors but with perpetrators if it came to power.
