137 Crore Multi-Storey Building at Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital to be Inaugurated Tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate and lay the foundation for a multi-storey building being constructed at the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital at a cost of Rs. 137 crore through KIIFB on March 9 at 5 PM. The ceremony will be presided over by health minister Veena George. Ministers K. N. Balagopal, V. Shivankutty, J. R. Anil, and MLA V. K. Prasanth will also participate in the function.

Health Minister Veena George stated that this project will transform the face of the General Hospital, located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city. A four-storey building with state-of-the-art facilities is being constructed. The ground floor will feature a reception area, trauma care department, general OP, ARV clinic, and pharmacy. The second floor will have intensive care wards for various departments, a seminar room, e-health facilities, and Bhoomika clinic. The third floor will house a laboratory, blood bank, and speciality and super-speciality OPs. The fourth floor will include a chemotherapy ward, operation theatre, and dental OP.

Additionally, an AC plant, medical gas unit, and laundry facilities will be set up. The building complex will have 10 lifts for the convenience of patients and the public. This new building will greatly benefit the General Hospital, which has been facing challenges due to space constraints.
