LDF Sweeps 10 Kannur Local Bodies Without Opposition

Kannur: In a historic display of political dominance, ten local bodies in Kannur district have remained steadfastly under LDF control, unaffected by any crisis. In these ten areas, the LDF secured complete victories without facing any opposition. Anthoor Municipality and Panoor Block are the major local bodies where there were no opposing candidates. The leftist legacy continues strongly in Karivellur–Peralam, Kankol–Alappadamb, Cheruthazham, Kannapuram, Kalyasseri, Panniyannur, Kathirur, and Pinarayi Panchayats.

In Malappattam, Kottayam, and Kadannappally–Panappuzha Panchayats, only a single opposition candidate managed to win. In Eramam–Kuttur, Eranjoli, Cherukunnu, Chokli, Ezhome, Mangattidam, Kuttiyattoor, and Mokery Panchayats, the opposition exists only nominally, with the LDF firmly in control.

A notable outcome this time was the LDF capturing Kadambur Panchayat from the UDF. Munderi Panchayat saw a situation with no clear majority, as both alliances secured 11 seats each. Edakkad Block had a similar result, with seven seats each for the two alliances, leaving neither with a majority.
