Scrutiny of Nomination Papers for Local Body Elections Begins Saturday at 10 AM

Thiruvananthapuram: The scrutiny of nomination papers for the upcoming local body election will begin at 10 am on Saturday. The process will be carried out by the respective returning officers. During the scrutiny, the candidate can be accompanied by the election agent, one proposer of the candidate, and one other person who has been duly authorised by the candidate.
A candidate’s eligibility or disqualification will be assessed based on the date fixed for scrutiny. However, candidates must have completed 21 years of age on the day they submit their nomination papers.
All nomination papers received until 3 p.m. on Friday will be scrutinized one by one. If a candidate has submitted multiple nomination papers, they will be examined together. The Returning Officer will then prepare and publish a list of candidates whose papers have been accepted.
