Alappuzha: Following the election results, prolonged group discussions and internal power struggles within Congress led to a compromise in Mavelikkara Municipality. The party decided to rotate the municipal chairpersonship among three leaders and also appoint three vice -chairpersons.

For the first two years, Lalitha Ravindranath will serve as chairperson with K Gopan as vice-chairperson. T Krishnakumar will take over as chairperson in the next two years, and Suni Alice Abraham will hold the position in the final year, with Koshi Thunduparambil and Sajeev Prayikkara serving as vice -chairpersons during their respective terms. Except for Koshi Thunduparambil from the Kerala Congress Jacob Group, all are from Congress. The power-sharing arrangement was forced by internal factionalism and disputes within the party, which required intervention by senior leaders. Even after the compromise, internal tensions persist, and party workers fear that these unresolved issues could affect municipal governance in the coming period.
