Russia’s cancer vaccine Pembrolia approved by Vietnam

Beijing: Vietnam has granted official approval to Pembrolia, the cancer -preventive vaccine developed by Russia. The vaccine has been designed to treat more than 14 types of cancer, including lung, skin, colorectal, uterine, kidney and breast cancers.

Vietnam is the first country in the world to approve the Russian vaccine for treatment. This marks a significant step toward making advanced cancer care accessible in Southeast Asia.

Pembrolia is a vaccine that helps the immune system identify and destroy cancer cells. The molecule pembrolizumab contained in the medicine enables this mechanism. With Vietnam approving the Russian vaccine, thousands of patients in the country will gain access to treatment. The use of the Russian vaccine will also reduce dependence on expensive Western-made immunotherapy vaccines.
