Fire at Shopping Centre Near Tehran Kills Eight, Injures 36

Tehran: At least eight people were killed and 36 others injured in a fire that broke out at a shopping complex near Tehran, according to state media.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at the Arghavan Shopping Centre in Andisheh town, located in Tehran province. Authorities said the cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is currently underway, state broadcaster IRIB reported.

Visuals from the scene showed thick black smoke billowing from the multi-storey building, while firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Local fire department officials indicated that the building’s exterior materials were highly flammable, which contributed to the rapid spread of the fire, according to reports by the judiciary-linked Mizan news agency.

The fire was brought under control only after several hours of firefighting efforts. It remains unclear whether the incident has any connection to the ongoing tensions involving United States and Iran.
