Beijing: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has strongly criticised the military actions taken by the United States and Israel against Iran. He made these remarks at a press conference held at the Spanish Embassy in Beijing, China. Sánchez stated that the government's position is to avoid war, and that the Spanish people are opposed to such attacks. He reminded that the invasion of Iraq in 2003 made the world more unstable. Sánchez said that war with Iran would not lead to a just international order or better living conditions. He described the current crisis as "the beginning of a great catastrophe for humanity." He also warned governments not to make risky decisions at the expense of the lives of millions of people.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Spain's refusal to allow the use of its military bases for actions against Iran. In response, Trump threatened to sever all trade relations with Spain. However, Prime Minister Sánchez has made it clear that he will not deviate from his stance.

Spain also took a strong position against the U.S. invasion of Venezuela, making it clear that it could not condone the United States' actions of kidnapping and imprisoning Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
