Sheikh Hasina Sentenced to Death by Bangladesh International Crimes Tribunal

Dhaka: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to death by Bangladesh International Crimes Tribunal. She was found guilty of crimes against humanity committed during last year’s student-led agitation that led to the fall of her Awami League government.
The three member tribunal also delivered verdict against two of her aides- former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun — over the same charges. Al-Mamun was produced before the tribunal.
Before the judgement by Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal, Hasina said that the court is controlled by her political rivals. Following the verdict, the police has tightened the security across the country.
After being deposed, Hasina fled Bangladesh and is currently living in India.
