London: SFI UK organised a protest outside the Indian High Commission in London, demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstrators called for electoral transparency to be protected and democratic principles to be upheld.

SFI UK said attempts were made by right-wing organisations to disrupt the protest, but it would continue its agitation. The protesters alleged that the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was attempting to impose authoritarian rule in India.

They said the Centre was resorting to violence to suppress protests in India because it could not withstand the slogans raised by demonstrators. Protecting democracy was the government’s responsibility, they said.

The protesters accused the government of failing to uphold that responsibility and attempting to undermine democracy. They said public anger against such actions could not be overcome.

SFI UK expressed solidarity with organisations that have decided to continue their protests until Gyanesh Kumar resigns.
