New Delhi: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has declared October 8 to 15, 2025, as a solidarity week for Palestine, condemning the continuing violence in the region. In its statement, SFI noted that the Israeli offensive, now in its third year, has claimed over 70,000 lives, with nearly 60 percent of Gaza’s population suffering from acute food scarcity.

Describing the situation as a calculated genocide by Zionist forces backed by the US government, the SFI has called for nationwide protests. Demonstrations are planned in 18,000 centres across India to commemorate the 18,000 children who have lost their lives so far. In a symbolic gesture, the SFI will plant a sapling in memory of each child.

Silence on the genocide is a crime,” the federation said in a statement released by its president Adarsh M Saji and general secretary Srijan Bhattacharyya. The SFI’s campaign aims to raise awareness and urge the international community to act against what it describes as imperialist brutality.
