Airstrike Alert Issued in Saudi Arabia Amid Escalating Houthi Attacks

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has issued an airstrike alert amid intensifying attacks by the Houthis. The escalation in Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia comes in retaliation for heavy Saudi airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in Yemen.

The warning has been issued in Riyadh and Al-Kharj, east of the capital. Saudi media reported that two explosions were heard in the city after residents in Riyadh's Olaya district were instructed to remain indoors shortly before 3 am local time.

Around 112,000 people have been displaced to different areas since the attacks between Saudi Arabia and Yemen began. Saudi F-15 fighter jets carried out 37 strikes on residential areas and communication centres in the provinces of Taiz, Hajjah, Al Jawf, Saada and Lahj. Five people, including three children, were killed.

In Al Waziya province, west of Taiz, clashes between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis left 30 Houthi fighters dead and more than 60 others injured.
