OpenAI Offers 5.6 Crore Rupees AI Safety Role in High-Stakes Division

San Francisco: OpenAI, a global leader in artificial intelligence, is recruiting top experts for its most critical safety division. The position, offering an annual salary of up to 600,000 US dollars (around 5.06 crore rupees), has been described by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman as “the most stressful job” in the organization.
The role is within the High-Stakes AI Safety team, responsible for ensuring that AI systems are developed and deployed in ways that do not pose risks to humanity. As AI continues to grow in capability, the primary responsibility of this position is to anticipate and prevent potential hazards arising from uncontrolled AI development.
Altman shared the job opening via the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that it involves tackling complex challenges the world has never faced before, making it both high-pressure and highly rewarding.
He also highlighted that, alongside the generous compensation, the role comes with significant responsibility and mental pressure. OpenAI has allocated substantial resources for research and development in AI safety and for ensuring that AI models are designed and deployed responsibly.
The announcement has drawn interest from AI experts globally, amid growing international concern about the risks associated with advanced AI technologies. This move underscores OpenAI’s commitment to proactive measures in AI safety, aiming to mitigate potential threats before they can cause harm.
