Tehran: The verbal confrontation between former U.S. President Donald Trump and the leadership of Iran has reached a new level. Trump criticised the election of Mojtaba Khamenei as the new supreme leader of Iran. This has led to a fresh wave of controversies. Trump threatened that Mojtaba would not be able to live peacefully and stated that he would not accept Iran’s new leadership.

In response, Ali Larijani, Iran’s security chief, fired back. He mocked Trump by saying that even bigger figures had tried and failed to eliminate Iran. He further warned Trump to think about his own security while attempting to eliminate others, adding a caution that Trump should be mindful of not being eliminated himself.

Earlier, Trump had threatened that if Iran attempted to block the passage of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, America would launch an attack 20 times stronger than previous ones. His statement about dismantling Iran’s foundation irreparably provoked Iran.

Meanwhile, tensions in the region are escalating. In Bahrain's capital, Manama, an Iranian drone crashed into a residential area, killing one person and injuring several others. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait also reported that numerous Iranian drones had been shot down over their territories. Iran’s increasing attacks targeting oil refineries and U.S. military bases in the region are significantly affecting the global market.
