Iran Launches Missile, Drone Attacks on Multiple Gulf Countries After Fresh US Strikes

Tehran: Following United States' fresh wave of attack on Sunday morning, Iran unleashed multiple airstrikes on US' Gulf allies.

Iran responded by launching missile and drone attacks targeting Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Qatar said it intercepted the incoming missiles, while air raid alerts were also activated in Bahrain and the UAE. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

According to reports by international media, The United Arab Emirates issued a public warning on Sunday about an incoming missile and drone attack as explosions were heard in neighbouring Qatar. Shortly afterward, missile alerts were activated in Qatar, whose military said it had intercepted the incoming Iranian missiles.

Missile alerts also sounded in Bahrain, home to the US Navy's Fifth Fleet. It was not immediately clear which locations in the UAE were targeted.

The latest escalation followed an Iranian strike on a Cyprus-flagged container ship in the Strait of Hormuz. According to CENTCOM, the vessel suffered significant engine-room damage and one civilian crew member remains missing. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the crew abandoned the burning ship.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard claimed the vessel ignored warnings to follow an "approved route" and said it was struck with a "warning shot". Tehran also announced the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until further notice and warned it could target additional bases in the region if attacked again.

Iranian state media reported US strikes on Bandar Abbas, Sirik and other coastal areas, but provided no casualty figures.

The renewed violence comes days after US President Donald Trump suggested the interim ceasefire was effectively "over". It also follows talks between Iran and Oman on the future of the Strait of Hormuz, with no breakthrough on reopening the vital waterway, through which about one-fifth of global oil and gas trade passed before the conflict began.
