Dubai: A man was killed in Dubai after debris from an Iranian missile that had been intercepted by air defence systems fell on a vehicle, authorities said.
According to the Dubai Media Office, the burning debris struck a car in the Al Barsha area while defence forces were attempting to neutralise the incoming attack. The driver, a Pakistani national, died at the scene. The incident was confirmed through an official social media statement early Sunday.
Authorities also reported that missile debris struck a tower in the Dubai Marina area. No injuries were reported in that incident.
Iranian military sources reportedly said the intended targets were US military facilities located in the Marina area.
In a related development, reports emerged from Tehran that an ambulance had been struck by Israel during ongoing hostilities. Iranian media released video footage showing the vehicle on fire.
Additional footage circulating online also showed fires at Iranian oil storage facilities following airstrikes attributed to Israel Defense Forces.
The broadcaster Al Jazeera also released video showing a large blaze in Tehran amid the continuing conflict.
