Iran Strikes US Interests in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait After Fresh American Attack

Tehran: Iran launched a series of attacks against US interests in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait on Wednesday, retaliating against an overnight US strike and defying President Donald Trump’s warning that any Iranian response would be met with “much harder and higher” attacks.

The latest escalation marks the resumption of direct hostilities between Washington and Tehran after nearly a month of relative calm. Iran reportedly fired two ballistic missiles at US military bases in Jordan, prompting the Jordanian military to activate its air-defence systems.

The Jordanian army said it intercepted 10 ballistic missiles launched from Iran. There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage from the attacks.

Iranian attacks were also reported in Kuwait. AFP, citing the Kuwaiti military, said the country’s armed forces responded after detecting incoming attacks from Iran. An aerial attack alert was also reported in Bahrain on Wednesday, further widening the geographical scope of the confrontation.

Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said Iranian forces used missiles and drones to target US military positions. The IRGC claimed the attacks destroyed a maintenance facility, warehouses and military equipment.

The latest escalation in the US-Iran conflict has brought fresh strikes across southern Iran, with Tehran reporting civilian casualties as Washington and Iranian forces resumed direct attacks after weeks of relative calm.

The confrontation intensified after the United States launched strikes on Iranian targets on Sunday, marking the first major US attack in several weeks. Iran responded by targeting American military positions in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates. Two oil tankers were also struck while travelling through the region, adding to concerns over the security of shipping around the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States carried out another wave of attacks on Tuesday, targeting Iranian air-defence systems, radar installations, maritime assets and other military infrastructure. Iranian state media reported explosions in areas along the Hormuz Strait and on an island in the Gulf, while strikes were also reported near an airport in southern Iran.

One of the deadliest incidents was reported in Kuhestak in Sirik County, where an American strike hit a house during a wedding gathering. The Iranian Red Crescent said four people, including a child, were killed and more than 50 others were injured. Iranian officials described the site as a civilian residential area.

The escalation comes amid a deepening standoff over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments. Iran has threatened to further restrict traffic through the waterway, while Washington has accused Tehran of endangering commercial shipping and attempting to lay mines in the strait.

With both sides exchanging increasingly forceful threats and diplomatic efforts showing little progress, fears are growing that the renewed fighting could develop into a wider regional conflict and further disrupt global energy markets.
